Metricon Homes TVC

tkm9 filmed and produced a 30 second TVC for Metricon last month. The theme was “Celebrate Living” to showcase the beautiful homes which are available around Australia.

“Meet Buck” is a very clever and quirky animated short film made in collaboration with one of tkm9′s motion designers Laurent Monneron.
Monneron was in charge of the FX/ Environment Modeling/ Dynamics. Laurent is currently doing the rounds at the Australian International Animation Festival.

The project was done by a team of 4 members : Yann De Preval who was in charge of conception, character design and animation, Denis Bouyer who also worked on conception and matte painting, Vincent E Souza who was in charge of all rigging, matte painting and compositing and Laurent who worked on the modeling, special effects and Dynamics.

Laurent told us “The movie took us around 12 months. 6 months of preproduction and 6 months of production. The idea came from Yann but it was a bit different at the beginning. He thought it would be funny to create a character with a deer head and it’s implications. After a bit of discussion we finally agreed that it would be funny to show his first relationship with a girl whose father is a hunter.”

“We kept the idea of a relationship father and son-in-law/ Hunter and deer. But we struggled a bit to find the perfect story, at some point. We had the whole family, including the mother, during a meal at the beginning but we dropped the idea (along with a lot of others) because it was really difficult to make four character interact together at all time in a logically.”

“We are all fans of classic cartoons and productions of TV channels like Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. So we decided to create a punchy short film where the audience would have no time to get bored.”

“We decided straight away that we’d try to achieve some kind of cartoon style. But when we looked at all our film Art-books, we realized that we lost a lot of things. We also loved the “speed painting” effect so we tried to stay as close as possible to the original illustrations.”

“I really love that 2D aspect and that fact that it was so different to anything I had ever made before. The film is actually pretty popular on the internet (a bit more than half million views) and had been selected in festivals around the world.”

Laurent is appearing at the Melbourne International Animation Festival from the 19th to the 26th of June at the ACMI.

Tkm9 is excited to announce the return of our Motion Director, Tyson who was in Abu Dhabi all last week successfully working on the visual stimulants for Etihad’s 2011 Conference. Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, held the 2011 Worldwide Staff Conference at the Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island. Here is tkm9′s edit for the deal between Virgin and Etihad done in late September. This alliance will add capacity between Australia and Abu Dhabi and across their networks as the two major airlines cooperate on scheduling and joint pricing of services. “”This is an important milestone as we create a global international network, greater competition on the international landscape and benefit our guests with great value fares, better scheduling and more choice,” said Virgin’s chief executive John Borghetti.
